Pattern Your Business After Southwest Airlines

There are similar airlines flying to similar places, using similar jets, offering similar fares to similar people. So how does an airline break out of "similarity?"

According to the Associated Press, Southwest Airlines is about to become the world's largest airline, beating out American Airlines in domestic and international passenger traffic for the first time.

"We're thrilled to watch our customer base grow," said Brandy King, a Southwest Airlines spokeswoman, who attributed the growth to the company's tradition of friendly customer service. "With so many airlines offering low fares, I think customer service makes all the difference in the world."

So, here's the multi-million dollar question. Could you pattern your business after Southwest by incorporating “above and beyond” customer service into your corporate culture? With so many businesses as similar as yours, it could be your big differentiator that puts you ahead of the pack and in a leadership position.
